How To Cook the Perfect Steak Tips on how to cook the perfect steak for yourself


All you need is the steak of your choice.


Heat your griddle or frying pan over a high heat until smoking hot.

Lightly brush steak with a little oil and season with a salt and pepper.

Don’t turn the steaks until good seared markings are achieved, and then turn over.

You must let the steak rest for about 3 minutes before serving to allow the juices that have been drawn to the surface relax back into the meat.


How long to cook the steak for;
These timings are based on cooking a steak that is about 2cm thick. Cooking times will vary depending on the thickness of the steak and how hot your pan is.
Blue: 1 ½  minute on each side
Rare: 2 ½ minutes on each side
Medium rare: 3 minutes on each side
Medium: 4 minutes on each side
Medium - well done: 6 minutes on each side
